Ghetto FedEx Furniture? UPS Anyone?
So I just saw on the TODAY Show that there is some guy who moved to Arizona 4 months ago and because he didn't have a job or a place to stay eventually managed to get himself an apartment but still had no furniture. He used FedEx boxes and built a desk, a bed, a couch, dining table and chairs. Its hilarious...and maybe next time he can use a real unionized company like UPS!
Anyway, here is the site.
UPDATE: FedEx is suing him here, and Stanford Law is defending him here.
UPDATE (2): Wired also has a story here.

those boxes cost money fool.
If I was FedEx I would do whatever I could to discourage that type of behavior. Those supplies cost money. What Jose is doing is akin to walking out of McDonalds with a trash bag full of “free” ketchup. Most people should be able to recognize that for what it is: an abuse of business property.
FedEx boxes are free.
Alright, but think of all the trash dumps that are filling up with used FedEx boxes. Better to make something useful out of them then to through them away.
yeah you are right ^ put the boxes to use instead of dumping them in dumps. Its really a good idea making furniture out of FedEx boxes, I think.
Some places throw these boxes by the dozens every day. But it seems this guy is using brand new boxes.
One would think all the attention Jose is getting for his ingenuity that FedEx might take the opportunity to make some free advertising. I would ship with a company that provides boxes just as strong as
dining room furniture.
i work at one of the fedex hubs and trust me those boxes are not that expensive i mean we have gone thoyugh 50 a night beofre i think i heard someone say they cost 0.0001 a box so oh yea it cost fedex much to lose one.
I found your blog rather interesting and even more useful. You were talking about shipping options. At the present time, they are very numerous and diverse. However, I think that fedex would be a good choice, since they offer better conditions to the clients compared to other shipping companies, like UPS or DHL, for example. I have also found from http://www.pissedconsumer.com that fedex offer free delivery services in certain cases.
