Chrysler 300 - Great American Package?
Or...I Got Yer "Great American Package" right here!
So I am on Chrysler's web site, and pricing out a 300C today, and I noticed a couple of new "Models". I knew, from the new commercials, that there would be a "Touring Signature Series". This is the new "Walter Chrysler Signature Series" from the commercials...although without the name "Walter Chrysler", which makes me think that the web side doesn't know what the tv side of the ad agency is doing over at BBDO, but I digress. In addition to the "Touring Signature Series" model, there was also a "Great American Package". What the heck is this? Does anyone know what the "Great American Package" is, and why it would necessitate its own model, sitting in-between the price of the 300 base model and the Touring model?

I think it's a rather unfortunately named preferred equipment group. "The Great American Package" just means something else to us with dirty minds.
jd's probably right. It is essentially some safety options (stability program, 4-wheel ABS,brake assist, traction control) plus the wheel/tire package from the Touring model, a cargo net, and cabin filtration.
All for $1400 or so, which is not a bad deal, if someone is just hell-bent on buying a 2.7L 300. I'd shy away from that myself, and go for the 3.5L if possible. It's a lot gutsier, and will move the 300, not a small car by any stretch, a lot better than the 190HP the 2.7L offers.
As to your question, I don't know why Chrysler would offer this, as it discourages people from spending the extra dough on the Touring, which has the more desirable of the two V6 engines as its base powerplant, plus a bunch of other decent options..
The Great American Package is a nice article for American people. The old version is fantastic.I think this is also excellent.
