Ford: Life in Drive in Detroit

So Ford's got this big marketing thing for their new 2006 Fusion. You know the Fusion, its the wicked little chrome-front family sedan which has been billed by many as alternately the "Accord-killer" as well as the "Sonata-devaluer" for both the HP in the standard engine and the economic price tag of around $21,000 respectively. The Fusion SEL comes equipped with a Duratec V6 throwing down 221 HP and 205 lb-ft of torque.

But anyways, I digress...let's talk about the marketing campaign Ford is running for the Fusion. It's called "Life in Drive" and is "about breaking free from convention to enjoy life with style and attitude". The coolest thing about the campaign though is the "Life in D" logo / moniker. The logo's "D" is actually the "D" standing for "Drive" on most automobile shift levers.

"Fusion will be built at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico. The company has already announced that Fusion will be available with full-time all-wheel drive for the 2007 model year, and for 2008 it will be made available with a hybrid powertrain, as will the Milan."

Not that this is anything new, but Ford's hope for the future will have almost nothing to do with Detroit. Ohhh, I miss the good old days. Can anyone tell me or the good people of Detroit why the Ford Fusion is the car to buy? Many people in my family work for Ford. I hear about pensions and supporting the American auto industry, but come on, when we have slaves doing the work it's like the good old days(I mean that sarcastically). If you haven't already been welcomed to the NWO, come on in and enjoy the ride.
