Valentine's Day: Detroit is For Lovers
I love Detroit. Detroit, i think anyway, loves me too. But what should I get Detroit this Valentine's Day? I mean, what do you get the city that's lacking so much? Maybe I can give OTHERS things FROM Detroit...for this Valentine's Day? Yeah, that's the ticket. Here's our sample of some select Metro Detroit-related gifts for significant others: Let's start with the easy one...clothes. Pure Detroit has a lovely selection of "Detroit-wear" for any occassion. Let's start with some t-shirts. I would probably go with the either of these two:
Detroit is for Lovers T-Shirt [Pure Detroit]
I 'heart' Detroit [Pure Detroit]
Next on the list, let's look at some makeup for the ladies (or I guess even the guys...). Our friends at Motor City Makeup have some excellent lip gloss and balm that you'll need to get yourself all gussied up for a night out on the town. And what's really cool is they come with names like "Road Rage", "High Beam" and "Uptown":
Motor City Lip Gloss [Motor City Makeup]
Motor City Lip Balm [Motor City Makeup]
Although I would STRONGLY suggest getting your significant other something more than just lip balm and a t-shirt, I think its a nice start.
UPDATE (3:49 PM): I almost forgot. You should also check out MotorCityRocks' online store. They have some awesome D-band posters from graphics designers like Ideal, Bossman and Michael Segal. They totally rock.
UPDATE (11:57 AM - 02/10/2006): A couple of helpful hints from our commenters for y'all to check out are the Detroit Spice Company which has all sorts of tasty rubs for your meat (wow, that sounds a lot dirtier than I meant it to sound...but hat tip to Jasper on that one), and lastly check out Absolute Michigan's list of Michigan products for a Michigan-themed V-Day.

Detroit Wonk,
I'm a Detroit native. I've lived here for 33 years and I love it!
I don't know if this site is gay friendly, but I've been nominated for "Man of the Year" by GENRE Magazine.
82 "regular guys" across the U.S. I'm the only candidate from Detroit!

A vote for me is a vote for the 313.
Detroit truly is the Riviera of the Midwest!
Stay sexy,

The Pure Detroit 1701 vintage baseball jersey is nice too, but they need to offer more girly-fit styles.
What happened to Made in Detroit brand apparel? Does it exist?
Hey D-Wonks, we're linking to this from our Valentine's Day feature and have a bunch of Detroit area business included in our list of jewelers, florists, chocolatiers and such.
